Excerpt: "Lycans of Mars" Teaser

I'm going to do a short story based on Red Riding Hood with a science fiction setting. When I was watching "The Expanse" I came up with this idea so in the edit I'm going to make some changes so it doesn't come off as too similar to the show. Here's a teaser...

Sable LaRouge admired herself in the mirror. She wore a mermaid oriental evening gown with images of a golden phoenix stitched into the design and a slit to show off her curvy thigh. The dress hugged Sable’s supple curves that she was sometimes embarrassed about. Her maid brushed out her long ebony locks as Sable applied a bit of blush to her face.

“Should I go with Ruby Red or Pink Passion?” Sable asked her maid, Cerise.

Cerise was a petite blond with bright green eyes and pouty lips that Sable envied. Where Sable was pale as the moon, Cerise was bronzed with a healthy pallor. Cerise pouted in thought.

“Red definitely,” Cerise smiled as she worked and twisted Sable’s hair into a bun while letting a good amount of dark strands escape to cascade down her mistress’s shoulder then took out the ruby lacquered chop sticks and stuck them into the design to apply a finishing touch.

“No one will be able to resist you,” Cerise crowed, putting her face beside Sable smiling with pride.

Sable flushed. “I don’t know…,” but Sable had to admit that she did look stunning. She wasn’t a classic beauty but men have been drawn to her saying she had an otherworldly beauty, a simmering sensuality in her big electric blue eyes that were hooded under dark lashes.

“You think Adrian will like it?” Sable asked as she applied the red lipstick. Cerise heaved a heavy sigh as her bright green eyes dimmed at the mention of Sable’s fiancé.

Adrian Haslett was the son of the Trade Minister. He was handsome enough but was single minded in his studies about Ancient civilizations. Sable shared the passion of art and preservation with her fiancé but other than that he was boring, jealous and high maintenance.

The only way Sable got his attention outside of work was when she was talking with another man. Then Adrian would get jealous and tell her to stop throwing herself at other men.

“Unless you have an Ancient Greek artifact from the time of Alexander the Great on your person I doubt Adrian would notice,” Cerise yawned mockingly. “He’s so boring I can’t believe you agreed to marry him!”

“I’m not thrilled about it either but grandmother insists,” Sable opened her jewelry box that played music “Castle on a Cloud” from the old musical “Les Miserables”. She took out two tear drop ruby earrings and began putting them on.

“You look incredibly sexy!” Cerise beamed.

“If you mean she looks like a painted whore then yes.”

Sable and Cerise froze, a feeling of dread worming up their spines when they heard the cold authoritative voice of Sable’s grandmother Senator Syrene LaRouge. An icy air of command hung about the seasoned senator of the Earth Federation. She and Sable had the same Prussian Blue eyes vibrant and electric with color but where Sable’s were warm and inviting, Syrene’s were calculating and indifferent.

“Grandmother…,” Sable swallowed hard trying not to seem affected but inside apprehension made her stomach tremble.

The senator took slow steps. Sable heard the cold “click clack” of the woman’s heels hitting the marble floor, her figure getting closer like a specter ready to wrap her hands around Sable’s white throat. Cerise bowed out without order as Syrene stood behind her grand daughter. The dowager inspected Sable with cool precision.

“I need you to be perfect at this banquet,” Syrene said, her tone contained an edge that made Sable wince inside but like a good daughter of a politician she kept her composure aloof. “You know who’s going to be there?”

“Prince Julian of Mars,” Sable said her voice devoid of emotion. Everyone was on edge to have a Lycan of such status on Earth.

“A beast,” Syrene spoke with disgust. “Just like his brother the Emperor. They’re all savage beasts who steal our mines in the Asteroid Belt and take our workers as slaves. Over sexed, violent beasts that we have to entertain so the Chancellor can pursue this farce of a peace treaty.”

The Lycans were wolf shifters that split from the human race on Earth after so much hate and bad blood between the races of human and hybrid human/animal. The Lycans traveled to Mars and built an Empire for 300 years that thrived on slavery and war. The skirmishes had gotten too frequent. Mars and Earth had the power to destroy each other as they were equal in military and weapons.

“Things would go a lot easier if you dressed more like a lady and not like a clown prostitute,” Syrene spoke coolly. Then she took a tissue and wiped away Sable’s red lipstick leaving a streaking smudge on her cheek as her grandmother offered her the other lipstick. “Go with Pink Passion. More your color.”

Sable nodded taking the lipstick from her grandmother’s elegant yet skeletal fingers.

The banquet was to be held in New York City at the Metropolitan Museum. Sable loved art especially the Rococo style where artists defied the rules of lines and restrictions letting their passions guide their hands without worrying about if it was right or not. She just had to get away from the crowd… and Adrian.

Sable was speaking to the Museum director, their heads leaned in close together discussing paintings that were loaned to the museum for such a special occasion. They were laughing and the director was only thanking her for her help and the difference between Rococo and Baroque when Adrian interrupted and practically dragged Sable away. She was humiliated. So Sable slipped away to take a breather.

The soft murmur of the guests in the other room hummed in Sable’s ears as she admired a painting depicting the familiar theme of the sexual union of Greek gods and mortal women: Leda and the Swan. Zeus disguised himself as a swan then came upon Leda and wrapped her in his big wings and made love to her. From this union came Helen of Troy whose face launched a thousand ships.

This painting was on loan from another museum. A painting by Jean François de Troy it depicted Leda on her back on a large rock as Zeus in swan form climbed on top of her as if making love or about to make love to her. But Leda’s face wasn’t horror. It was a mixture between expectant bliss and fear.

“You lost, little lamb?”

A dark masculine voice purred behind her making Sable jump. She turned and fought back a blush before answering him for when she saw the man standing behind her as a soft gasp escaped her and her mind went blank.

He was incredibly gorgeous standing there with a smirk and a sinister glint in his burning blue eyes that eyed her hungrily. Sable felt suddenly naked as the stranger’s gaze raked over her curves and licked his lips and her muscles tensed.

Something inside Sable seemed to call out to this man. Her body quivered with a desire she’d never felt before. An ache burned between her thighs as she imagined herself pressed against his hard body…

“Does the Little Lamb have a tongue?” he asked, amusement in his voice. Sable shook her head to rid herself of the fog that clouded her mind, regaining some sense of propriety.

“Apologies,” Sable straightened up but the hum of desire still echoed in her blood. “You surprised me, Prince Julian.”

Julian’s eyebrow lifted, intrigued.

“You know who I am?” he asked smiling revealing his white teeth resembling the wolf of fairytales who liked to devour virgins in the woods. “You have me at a disadvantage then for I don’t know who you are…”

“Sable LaRouge,” Sable dipped in a little curtsy but Julian took hold of her hand in his firm, strong yet gentle grip and pressed her fingers to his lips. His lips were warm and moist. Sable wondered what they would taste like. What they would feel like when pressed to other more intimate parts on her body?

“Charmed…,” Julian’s eyes held her with hypnotic lust. His lips curved into a salacious smile. He seemed well aware of the effect her was having on her. He had golden hair and a chiseled jawline that could cut marble. Sable saw a vein climbing his neck and figured he had hard muscles underneath perfectly sculpted like a Greek god.

“What is a beautiful little lamb doing wandering away from her herd?” Julian asked, keeping Sable’s hand captive in his. He brushed his thumb over her fingers sending hot little thrills straight to her pussy making it drizzle and squeeze.

But Sable remembered that Lycans kept human slaves and took her hand back. Her body cried out in protest, missing the warmth.

“Is that what humans are to you Lycans? Sheep for the slaughter?” Sable asked clenching her hands into fists to relieve the nervous energy building within her and to prevent her from reaching out to the arrogant prince and crushing his mouth to hers.

Julian’s expression didn’t change. In fact he looked even more aroused, his blue eyes burning with desire and Sable caught a glimpse of the tight bulge forming in his pants. He stepped closer while Sable stepped back until Julian reached out. He brushed away Sable’s dark hair from her face then traced his finger down her cheek sending stabs of ecstasy through her body to awaken her nerve endings.

“What are you doing?” Sable’s voice trembled as did her body. The wolf prince sensed it and his eyes turned from sky blue to a golden yellow gripping Sable’s insides with trepidation but also expectation. He could smell the arousal coming off her in waves and it awakened his animal lust. Julian’s thumb traced her bottom lip, his tongue darted out between his lips, his smoldering gaze hungry to taste her. Julian leaned in, a growl vibrating in his throat.

“I’ll scream,” Sable spoke breathlessly as Julian pressed her against the cold wall as her body felt like a fiery furnace. His hand rested on the nape of her neck and with a wicked grin he whispered hoarsely, “Then scream.”

Sable felt helpless. She was in the hands of a beast. Her heart pounded in her ears and her blood sang but words failed her. She didn’t make a sound except for a slight groan when Julian brought his mouth down upon hers and speared his tongue into her mouth, exploring it with sensual licks.

He tasted wild and succulent. Sable was overcome with wild abandon as she gave into Julian’s lust-filled kiss. She wrapped her arms around him to keep him pressed against her. Her nipples stiffened and pussy creamed as she felt every hard muscle; every hard muscle as Sable felt Julian’s maleness throb against her.

Sable rubbed her body against Julian creating a friction of heat that made both of them growl in delight. Julian’s hand ran up her smooth creamy thigh as he nipped her throat. The graze of his teeth gave Sable shivers as she felt his sharp canines. Would they break the skin? Would his uncontrollable lust result in her death? Sable found herself fine with it as long as Julian brought her to complete ecstasy first.

Then Sable felt his hand rubbing her hot damp panties as he nibbled her ear. He stroked her sending Sable into shivers of ecstasy. She let out a small sigh of bliss getting lost in the sudden passion.

“Tell me what you want, little lamb,” Julian whispered harshly in her ear as he rubbed her harder. Sable dug her nails into Julian’s shoulders feeling the hardness of his muscles. Julian licked her neck, “Tell me what you want…”

Sable had her eyes closed most of the time but when she opened them she suddenly realized where she was and she was seized with panic. With all her might she pushed Julian away and without a word ran off. She made it around the corner and rested against the wall beside a Neoclassical painting by William-Adolphe Bouguereau called “The Abduction of Psyche”. All around her were Bouguereau’s paintings depicting Eros and Erotes disturbing young maidens hoping to corrupt them.

Sable noticed the painting of “Girl Resisting Eros” and couldn’t help but feel a kinship with the girl. Sable’s heart slowed its pace as she took deep breaths. But her body cried at the loss of Julian’s firmness. She could still feel the heat of him like a brand on her skin.

“Sable?”

She jumped to see her fiancé glowering at her with his stormy brown eyes.

“You look feverish,” he accused in a cool tone. “Maybe you had too much to drink.”

It was more of a statement than a question and Sable hated when he did that. He treated her like a child but right now she wanted to get as far from Julian as possible before she did something she would regret. Oh but what sweet regret.

“I’m feeling dizzy,” Sable said fanning herself. “I’m going to bed.”

Adrian caught her arm and whispered, “I’ll walk you back home.”

Sable took back her arm, her vibrant blue eyes as cold as icicles that sent chills down stony Adrian’s spine and said lowly, “I can manage, Adrian. You don’t get to order me around until after we’re married. So until then keep your hands to yourself.”

Sable walked off in a huff leaving brooding Adrian in her dust.
